Carl

It is a new month, and we are approaching the end of our second grading period. The holidays are coming up.

On Nov. 11 for Veterans Day there was a function at Lower Lake Cemetery for all of our soldiers. This is an annual event, being organized by Joel and Flora Moore, in which a flag is raised for every soldier. People come and pay respect to the fallen soldiers on Veterans Day. Carlé is heavily involved in the Avenue of the Flags. We joined the Boy Scouts and others in paying our respects.

Carlé began working on Veterans Day and Memorial Day as a way to thank the people who run the graveyard for always being so accommodating to our students. After we did the flags one time we were so impressed with the day that we have been involved ever since.

Thanksgiving break, first break of the school year, is going to be Nov. 18-25. After working hard for a while, the students and the teachers are very happy for a break.

In other news, Carlé is now in cooperation with miZone, a program that helps people of all ages organize their lives and their careers. Carlé students now get one credit for every 12 hours they spend participating in the miZone program. The entire program lasts 10 weeks and is completely free.

Their facility is well equipped with eight computers that can be used to learn windows off voice programs and have a program called iJobs, which helps people find jobs they would like to have. They also have food and entertainment for people working so they can refresh themselves.

Businesses can call miZone for workers, and miZone will provide them with participants in the program that are willing to do these jobs. Carlé Principal Bill MacDougal is very excited about this program, and feels it is very important for helping people make their lives better.

On Nov. 8 Anthony Hill gave his portfolio, in order to show his work for all his years in school until now.

We would like to congratulate our student of the week Sarah Roath. She was chosen for student of the week for her hard work and being an excellent student. Angie Siegel said, “She is one of the top students in the school, and she has worked incredibly hard from the second she stepped foot on campus.”

Also, everyone in student government received chili for doing such a great job organizing Harvest Fest.

That is all for the Chronicle! Thanks for reading!

Atlee Erickson is a junior at Carlé High School.
