Carl

Happy Halloween! Everyone at Carlé is excited about this year's Harvest Fest which will take place on Oct. 31.

We have been holding our annual Ping-Pong Tournament! Many students and staff are competing and we will reveal the champions next week.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, Carlé students volunteered to work for Children's Museum of Arts and Sciences (CMAS). There were over 100 kids at CMAS, doing activities that taught them about biology, astronomy, music, and history. Some of the people who volunteered to attend and help were John Wellman and his wife Bee Wellman, who taught about ancient Native American crafts; Konocti School

Board members Anita Gordon and Carolynn Jarrett; Don Coffin and Tom Dixon, who played music with the kids; and many other volunteers, including our principal Bill MacDougal.

“It was wonderful seeing our community putting on such a beautiful learning experience for our children,” said MacDougal.

All of the kids there expressed that they were having fun, and were genuinely interested in all that was being taught there. CMAS was proof that learning doesn't have to be a boring experience. It was also a great example of our community's commitment to our children¹s welfare. As said by Bill MacDougal,

“You can tell the health of a community by how they care and provide for their children.”

Carlé students also were able to do community service by participating in the Redbud Disaster Drill on Oct. 25. By doing this service, students were able to be a part of disaster preparedness training by acting as an injured person needing assistance.

On the 18th of October, awards for perfect attendance were given out. The students with perfect attendance for the first grading period were Matthew Tipton, Atlee Erickson, Steven Hunt, Marquice Lamar, Jah-Brela Parker, Sina Radley, Andrew Smith and Kelly Trask. On Oct. 26, Carlé student Yvette Kinyon gave her portfolio to celebrate her completion of kindergarten through 12th grade.

Last week's student of the week was Marquice Lamar for his hard work, academically and musically, as a new student here at Carlé. This week's student of the week is Wes Besgrove for his leadership in the school for the entire time he has been a student here. Wes will be leaving us shortly and heading into his future as a graduate.

We would like to welcome Gary Oaks to the family as a new member of the staff at Carlé. We now have a tutoring program here, so any student can get credit for receiving help with their homework during sixth period.

Thank you for reading and have a happy Halloween everyone!

Atlee Erickson is a junior at Carlé High School.
