Community

CLEARLAKE – In this time of extreme budget cutbacks, Community Care HIV/AIDS Project is looking for that wonderful Lake County Energy, to help meet the shortfall, at the second annual AIDSWALK Lake County.

Please join us as we come together in the true spirit of community.

The second annual AIDSWALK Lake County, will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, in Clearlake's beautiful Austin Park, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be music, entertainment, great speakers, art, good food and prizes.

Last year, a diverse variety of Lake County folks worked together to produce a real, feel-good, fundraising event that directly benefited the health & welfare of our clients.

From students to seniors, talk to anyone who participated in our first-ever AIDSWALK and you will be greeted with a smile.

In these challenging times of major cutbacks in the Office of AIDS and Other Health Service, let's get together and create some meaningful community.

There are many fun ways to participate. Please call Michelle, Marti or Ken at 707- 995-1606, with any questions. Come join the fun and help make a difference.

UPPER LAKE – The Northshore Dive Team will meet this Sunday, Sept. 20.

The group will meet at the Northshore Fire Protection District's Blue Lakes Station 91 at 8:30 a.m. for dive team training.

Everyone is welcome to attend, from divers to non-divers. If you like the water, come and join the team.

For more information call Capt. John Rodriguez, the team leader, at the Upper Lake station, 275-2446, or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

LAKE COUNTY – Due to recent low lake levels tires are being exposed in the lakebed, and the Lake County Public Services Department is offering a tire amnesty program to respond to the problem.

If tires are found in the lake, residents are able to dispose of up to nine passenger tires free of charge every month through the county’s tire amnesty program.

Please make sure to hose off most mud prior to bringing them to South Lake Refuse & Recycling, at the entrance to the Eastlake Landfill in Clearlake, or to Waste Solutions Recycling Yard at 230 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport.

In addition to lakeside residents, all county residents may dispose of up to nine tires a month free of charge through the tire amnesty program.

For more information regarding the tire amnesty program or any other solid waste issues in Lake County, call 707-262-1760 or visit our website at www.recycling.co.lake.ca.us .
