Died: April 26, 2023 in Kelseyville, California

Anna is survived by sisters, Marie K. Struven, John dec., Helen Kimberly Sharrocks, Clive and brother Bill Kuziara, Debra; nieces and nephews, Bailey and Gavin Sharrocks, Dell Dellinger, Jacqueline Dellinger Hall, and John and Camille Kuziara.

Anna attended Santa Rosa Junior College and graduated with honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 1975 in environmental sciences, natural resources. She graduated from Empire Law School in 1995.

A lifelong teacher, Anna taught high school mathematics, science and history in several Sonoma County schools before relocating to Lake County in 2000 where she taught school in Lake and Mendocino counties.

Anna was a grant writer, who successfully wrote grants to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Land Management to protect and restore the water quality in the Clear Lake Watershed Basin. She also obtained funding from the Environmental Protection Agency for water quality standards for Clear Lake on tribal lands.

In 2018 Anna was elected to the Lake County Board of Education and reelected in 2022. Anna counted among her many friends the staff of the Lake County Office of Education.

Anna was an avid horsewoman, getting her first horse at age 9. She owned and rode horses all of her adult life. Anna was one of the founders of the Lake County Horse Council who strive to provide humane treatment of aging horses. Anna met many lifelong friends along her way in her charitable works for animals.

Anna belonged and was generous to numerous charitable organizations including Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, Humane Society, St. Joseph’s Indian School, Habitat for Humanity, Friends of Boggs Mountain and Lake County Land Trust, among many others.

Anna was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County where she met and enjoyed the company of many friends.

The most enduring memories of Anna’s family and friends is her easy laugh, smile and being a true believer, she could make the world a better place for nature, animals, education and her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County, 3810 Main St., Kelseyville, on Saturday, June 3, at 1 p.m.

Anna wrote poetry all her life. The family offers copies of some of her poems at the celebration.

In lieu of flowers Anna Rose would have preferred donations to the Lake County Horse Council.
