John Alotta Jr.
Dec. 9, 1939 – April 1, 2023

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — John was born in San Jose to John and Teresa Alotta. He was a 40 year Upper Lake resident.

When he was younger, he worked at his father’s restaurant, which is where he developed his love for cooking.

In October 1967, he married his best friend and the love of his life Marialisa “Lisa” Galletto. Last year they celebrated 55 years together.

John and Lisa opened an Italian restaurant called Alotta‘s in Los Altos. After nine years they decided to close the restaurant and open up a delicatessen which they ran for 36 years also in Los Altos.

Then they moved to Upper Lake and opened Alotta’s Italian restaurant in Capella, and then moved the restaurant to Upper Lake. After seven years they had to retire from the restaurant business due to health issues.

John really loved people. He spent his whole life trying to help others as best he could. He was a kind man and a very patriotic man. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He really loved the American flag. He had 30-plus flags flying on his property. John loved gardening and his flowers, he had a knack for beautiful landscaping and for decorating events that he would cater. He loved animals and photography.

John was a lifelong member of the Grange, the Elks and the Odd Fellows. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy, the American Legion of Lake County, SPCA, Italian Catholic Federation, the USO and the breakfast group that would meet weekly at Robinson Rancheria.

John is survived by his wife, Marialisa Alotta.
