Dorothy E. McGrath

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — Dorothy E. McGrath (Cook) of Kelseyville passed away on Dec. 25, 2022, at the age of 95.

Dorothy was born in Louisiana on June 13, 1927, to Wilburn and Rosie Cook. She was one of six children.

Her family moved to California in 1942 and settled in the Bay Area.

Dorothy married Francis (Mac) McGrath in 1952 and raised their family in Concord, California.

Dorothy worked for the Diablo Valley Unified School District, retiring in 1978.

The family spent two decades coming to their cabin on Clear Lake before deciding to permanently move to Kelseyville.

Dorothy and Mac made their home in Buckingham. After Mac passed away, Dorothy moved to town to be closer to family, where she kept active for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Dave (Pat) and Don (lzel), and daughter-in-law, Diana.

Additionally, she leaves behind nine grandchildren: Lisa (Rich), Matt (Tricia), Michael (Mandy), Morgan, Sherry (Matt), Stacy, Brad, D.J. (Sarah) and Nikki; as well as 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Mac; son, Ron; granddaughter, Karen; great-granddaughter, Symphony; parents, Wilburn and Rosie; sisters, Eloise, Mattie Lee, Marty and Genelda; and brother, Welton.

The Rosary will be said at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Kelseyville on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
