LAKEPORT, Calif. — Herminia (Minnie) Monsivaiz Garcia passed away peacefully in her home on July 12, 2022, in Lakeport, surrounded by much of her loving family and faithful friends.

She was born on Feb. 10, 1939 in San Pedro Coahuila, Mexico and legally came to the United States circa 1947.

She was a resident of Lake County for over 60 years and lived in Scotts Valley and Lakeport.

Minnie worked as a labor camp cook, walnut picker and was a teacher’s aide in the Head Start education system. She volunteered with the senior center and at the Kelseyville thrift store. She was an avid bingo goer and enjoyed going to the casino.

Minnie is survived by her life partner of 45-plus years, Jesus Macias; sister, Maria Ibarra; five children, John Daniel Baltazar, M. Dolores Arroyo (Jesús), Jesús Garcia, Rafael García (Leticia), Avigail García Flores (Tomas); 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary on Friday, July 15, with a Rosary that evening.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Lakeport on Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
