KELSEYVILLE, Calif. — Adelina Rico Maciel, 75, of Kelseyville passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on June 12, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She loved fiercely and deeply and we find comfort knowing that she is now free of pain and at peace surrounded by light.

Adelina was born to Victor Maciel and Esther Melchor in the beautiful city of Morelia, the capital of Michoacan, Mexico on Dec. 21, 1946.

She met, fell in love with, and married Jeronimo Rico on May 22, 1966, and together they created an amazing family, which was her pride and joy.

In 1976 Adelina immigrated to Kelseyville, where she and Jeronimo raised their family. She spent many years working in local agriculture, including pears, walnuts and grapes until her retirement in 2012.

Through her hard work and sacrifice alongside her loving husband, she built a beautiful home surrounded by vineyards and various flowers which she so carefully tended to. Her rose bushes were something out of a magazine, and you would often find her outside gardening.

She was proud of her home, as it was a space full of love where her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren could always come together to create memories.

Adelina loved traveling to her hometown in Michoacan with her husband to visit family. The memories created during these trips will forever stay with those she left behind.

Adelina was a very quiet natured soul, but you knew she loved you when you could break through her timid personality and have her share a beautiful smile and laugh alongside you.

Adelina is predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Maria de Jesus Rico.

She is survived by a large and loving family: her husband of 56 years, Jeronimo Rico; her children, Veronica (Orlando) Zartate, Beatriz (Huber Chavez), Maria (Jorge) Arroyo, Esther Rico and Jeronimo Jr. (Patricia) Rico; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four siblings; and various nieces and nephews and extended family.

Rosary service will be held at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary on Wednesday, June 15, at 6 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m.

Arrangements by Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 707-263-0357 or 707-994-5611, or visit www.chapelofthelakes.com.
