LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — Retired Command Sergeant Major Maynard Arthur passed away peacefully on April 25, 2021, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Leomia; his daughter, Diana; and a host of relatives.

Maynard was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1935.

Maynard served in the Korean War. He served five years with distinction in Vietnam where he earned medals, including the Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Six Good Conduct Medals, five Overseas Service Ribbons, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Honor Medal 2nd Class, Meritorious Unit Commendation with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. Maynard retired from the Army after 23 year of service.

Following his military career, Maynard purchased two Ford dealerships. His success in business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and his natural mechanical ability. His attention to detail was legendary. He took pride in the fact that he always left his customers satisfied.

The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him, as friends and family will attest.
