Elsie Attebery
Dec. 13, 1923-Feb. 21, 2013

Elsie's life ended peacefully on Feb. 21, 2013, at the Cloverdale Healthcare Center after a short illness and a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Elsie was born and raised in Middlesboro, Tennessee. After high school she traveled to Sacramento, Calif.

While staying at the YWCA she received training as a machinist to aid in the war effort.  It was there that she met Bob and they were married on Jan. 3, 1943.

They first lived in South San Francisco, then San Leandro, and finally moving to Hayward where they lived for over 60 years. It was there that she worked at a candy store and at Hagstrom's Market. She was an avid seamstress and would drop everything if someone wanted to go "shopping.”

After retiring Elsie settled in as a housewife, mother, and most importantly being "Gramma" and "Gege" to her grandkids.

Elsie and family enjoyed countless years in Lake County during summer vacations and visiting relatives and friends around the lake. She moved to Lakeport in 2006 to be close to family.

Elsie is survived by her sister, Eleanor, "Sandy" Howell of Little Rock, Arkansas; her loving daughters, Jeannie Lynn of Milwaukee, Ore., Barbara Jo "BJ" (John) Woods of Lakeport, Calif., and Gerrie "Seryna" Templeman of Santa Rosa, Calif. Elsie also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Della; husband, Bob; son, Mitchell, "Mitch"; sisters, Emma Lee, Margaret and Dorothy; brothers, Ross, William and James; granddaughter, Tina Lynn; and great-grandson, Cody Templeman.

A memorial will be held for Elsie and her late husband Bob at United Christian Parish, 745 Brush St., Lakeport, at 2 p.m., March 23, 2013.

A private internment will be held later at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, Calif.
