Richard Lee Benjamin died June 26, 2012, in Redding, Calif., while traveling to visit family in Oregon.
 
He was born June 1, 1929, in Scandia, Kansas, to Leota and Harold Benjamin.

The family moved to Culver City, Calif., when Richard was about 9 years old. He graduated from Hamilton High School.

He was married to Marjory Ann Coleman from 1950 to 1970 and had two children, Rick and Susan.

After working at Studebaker as car parts manager for five years, he began his career with Pacific Telephone in 1954 as a frameman in Beverly Hills. He progressed rapidly and enjoyed many assignments in the plant, marketing and administration departments in the Los Angles area.

He transferred to San Francisco in 1978 and his job duties were transferred to AT&T at divestiture of the Bell System. He retired as staff manager-real estate in 1985. In 1988 he moved to Lake County.

Richard had a love of cars, planes, boats and motorcycles. He also enjoyed hunting, RVing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Benjamin; son, Rick (Louise) of Damascus, Oregon; granddaughters, Amy Aivaliotis and Kimberly Benjamin; great-grandson, Gabriel Benjamin; sister, LeVonne Cooke of San Diego; and brother, Don of Lake San Marcos.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paden Anne Cormack also known as Susan Anne Benjamin;  brother Harold; and sister Georgalee Works.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Peter’s Church, Kelseyville. A reception at Glebe Hall will follow.

His remains will be interred at a later date in San Diego.
