LAKEPORT – The Lakeport Kiwanis and the Lakeport Fire Department are joining forces to hold a No Fireworks Pancake Breakfast to help offset the loss of funding for the Channel Cats and Miss Lake County Pageant when the Lakeport City Council canceled fireworks sales this year.

With the loss of funding, both organizations turned to the community to help them replace their funding shortfall. The Channel Cats leader Jennifer Hanson responded to the offer from the Kiwanis with a resounding yes; count us in! So, the breakfast idea was born.

When the fire chief was asked if he would host the breakfast at the firehouse, he turned the decision over to the volunteers. They agreed and set the date for Saturday, Aug. 8.

Local businesses strongly support the pancake breakfast; Bruno's Shop Smart, McDonald's Restaurant, Kelsey Creek Coffee Company just to name a few. If your business wishes to assist in donating raffle items, please contact Eric Wheaton, president of the Lakeport Kiwanis, at 707-279-4840. A raffle prize drawing opportunity is included with each pancake breakfast ticket.

Tickets are available through each Channel Cat swimmer (Jennifer Hanson at 707-263-3131), any Kiwanis member (Arlin Pischke at 707-263-5412) or at the Lakeport firehouse on N. Main St., Lakeport.

Tickets also are available at Kelsey Creek Coffee Co., on N Main.
