Free hunter safety course offered in December

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. — A one and a half day hunter safety course will be offered to the first 12 applicants on Dec. 2 and 3 at the Highland Springs Range House, located at 3800 East Highland Springs Road.

The course will cover gun safety, principles of conservation and hunter ethics.

Students will have an opportunity to meet a game warden and experienced instructors, and will get hands-on experience with safe hunting equipment.

Successful completion of the class and exam will qualify you to obtain a hunting license.

Prior to the class all students will be required to read the “Guide to Hunting Responsibility and Safety” for two hours of class credit.

All prospective students must register with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website for this class.

Once you have registered you should immediately contact Robert Bridges at 707-263-5187 to obtain a copy of the class material.

Class hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.

Students should bring a lunch and something to drink as there is no potable water at the range.
