NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – Supports of the grassroots “#LetThemPLayCA” movement will hold a rally for the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation in Santa Rosa at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29.

The rally will take place at the office of Assemblyman Jim Wood, chair of the Health Committee, at 50 D St. in Santa Rosa.

#LetThemPlayCA was started by parents in California in response to the state’s restrictive guidelines surrounding youth sports during the pandemic. They are particularly concerned about the return of high school athletics.

Rallies were held across the state in locations that included Lakeport on Jan. 15, as Lake County News has reported.

The group said its goal is to show the state government and public health officials that youth sports can be done safely, based on data collected from more than 40 other states.

Members also plan to adhere to all federal, state and local guidelines in terms of COVID safety measures, and plan to incorporate best practices and protocols from several states that safely and successfully completed sports seasons.
