LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Continuum of Care is pleased to announce the availability of California Emergency Solutions and Housing grant funding.

Funding from the California Emergency Solutions and Housing, or CESH, is allocated funding received by the Continuum of Care to assist persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Lake County and that those uses are aligned with California’s Housing First policy.

Spending must be informed by a best practices framework focused on moving homeless individuals and families into permanent housing and ensuring those individuals and families maintain their permanent housing.

Funding is available for street outreach, health and safety education, criminal justice diversion programs, prevention services, navigation services, and operating support for short-term or comprehensive homeless services.

Also, rental assistance or subsidies such as housing vouchers, rapid rehousing programs, eviction prevention and housing relocation are covered.

No more than 40 percent of CESH funding shall be allocated to emergency shelter, transitional housing, drop-in centers, permanent supportive housing, small/tiny houses, and improvements to current structures that serve homeless individuals and families.

Funds available for this project total $415,170, to be divided for two subrecipients for $207,585 each.

Agencies applying must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, local unit of government, or a state or federal tribal entity that serves those struggling with homelessness or at-risk of becoming homeless in Lake County.

The application due date is Feb. 16.

The Lake County Continuum of Care is a HUD-designated organization that promotes communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provides funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness; promotes access to and effects utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimizes self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
