Cal Fire Wildfire Resilience and Forestry Assistance Grant workshops planned

Print
Cal Fire will hold three workshops including a webinar about the 2020 Wildfire Resilience and Forestry Assistance Grant funded by Proposition 68.

Each workshop will cover grant opportunities for counties, resource conservation districts, and non-profit organizations that have the capacity to deliver a forestry-based technical and financial assistance program to non-industrial forest landowners.

The Proposition 68 funds are authorized through Public Resource Code §80135(a) to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection for projects that provide ecological restoration of forests.

Projects may include forest restoration activities for forestland already impacted by natural disturbance such as fire, insect, and disease, and forest management practices that promote forest resilience to severe wildfire, climate change, and other disturbances.

Cal Fire expects to award at least $2,200,000 of Proposition 68 funding for Forestry Assistance in the fiscal year 2019/2020 with a minimum grant amount of $750,000.

It is strongly suggested that attendees familiarize themselves with the Grant Guidelines prior to the workshops so that the question and answer portion of the workshops will be of maximum value to those attending.

For more information about the grant programs, see the Grant Guidelines available on the Forest Stewardship Website:
