UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Lake County explorers and hikers just received some good news: the Lake County Land Trust is now offering free docent-led hikes twice a month at its Rodman Preserve property.
The hike schedule, starting this month, is now the second and fourth Saturday of each month.
Walks begin promptly at 8 a.m. through August; in September the start time will change to 9 a.m.
The Rodman Preserve is located at 6350 Westlake Road, near Upper Lake, just off the Nice-Lucerne cutoff exit.
Hikers will be treated to an hour and a half moderately easy walk, just over one and a half miles, through pristine oak woodlands and grasslands, and are sure to catch glimpses of wildlife along the way.
Participants should make sure to wear weather appropriate gear and sturdy shoes, and bring water. Cameras are encouraged and binoculars can be borrowed from the Land Trust.
Questions can be directed to the Lake County Land Trust at 707-262-0707.
