LAKEPORT, Calif. – Auto racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway this Saturday afternoon, July 18, for the “O’Reilly Auto Parts Night at the Races” featuring the North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest.

This will be the first 2020 race for NSMS as the Covid-19 pandemic caused the cancellation of the first five scheduled events.

The North State Modified Series is a traveling modified auto racing tour that competes at facilities from Central and Northern California to Southern Oregon.

This series gives those men and women who want to race, but not at the same track on a weekly basis, the opportunity to compete at a professional level with full fields of race cars.

Competing modified drivers currently hail from the northern part of Oregon all the way to the southern part of California.

The 2020 season will be the seventh for NSMS. Previous champions are Jay Linstroth of Citrus Heights in 2014, Darrin Knight of Kelseyville in 2015-2017, Kris Price of Sacramento in 2018 and the team of Scott Winters and Robbie Knittel from Lodi in 2019. Winters will be driving the championship #21 car at Lakeport this weekend.

The North State Modified Series is presented by Protect the Harvest, Lucas Oil, Hoosier Tire West, Sunoco Race Fuels, Naake Suspension, Five Star Bodies, Racer Bling, Scribner Plastics, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Franks Radios.

Joining the modified tour will be the Radical Focus Midgets, the Pro-4 Modifieds, the NCRA Legends Cars and the Taco Bell Bombers.

Once again spectators are not allowed in the grandstands, but the races will be live-streamed and viewers can see the action on the NCRA-Lakeport Speedway Facebook page beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Lakeport Speedway is presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts, Anderson Logging, Sullivan Const Masonry, Lake Parts, Bicoastal Media, Taco Bell, D&P Pools, Hillside Powersports, Clearlake Redi-Mix, Snap-On Tools, S&K Paving & Striping, Lucerne Roofing, S & K Automotive, Under the Sun Garden Supply, Perkins Septic Tanks, Lake County Tribal Health, Don Anderson Attorney At Law, Coleman’s Custom Vinyl, Lake County Welders, Steve Taylor Excavation, Dana Stahl Race Cars, Kelseyville Lions, Mike Sullivan Consulting, Lake Co.
