KELSEYVILLE – Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association (CLSPIA) invites the community to attend its spring opening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday April 18 and 19.

A special showing of “Bees: Tales from the Hive,” a Nova DVD, will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the auditorium.

This film presents amazing facts and photography of these incredible creatures. This is a spectacular portrayal of a working bee colony and explains much of bee behavior that we have always accepted but never understood. Within the colony, every bee has a specific task but they work together to protect the colony.

Plan time to tour the natural history museum, from woodlands to wetlands. Be sure to check out the Visitor Center Store.

“There are many new nature-related items,” said gift shop manager Lisa Calkins. “This year there is one especially for babies – onesies. They are great quality and should be the answer to requests from proud parents and grandparents. In infant sizing with the Park name on the back, these onesies make great souvenirs for visitors to take home. Included in the new items are beach towels and aluminum water bottles.”

There is no entrance fee to the park for participating in walks, attending programs or visiting the museum.

The Visitor Center will open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer. Guided walks will take place on the second and fourth Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Clear Lake State Park is located at 5300 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville.
