Carl

It’s another great week here at Carlé High School! It is the last week of our third grading period, so we are we are working hard to complete our full credits. We are already half way through the school year!

Our music class is working on learning acoustic songs to play at the upcoming cabaret. Dan Maes, our music teacher, is helping the students learn the songs that they want to perform.

We have always done fun activities during lunch, to build community between students. We have been playing twister at lunch, which has resulted in a lot of laughs. A great event that happened on the 18th was an arm wresting tournament. We will have updates about how it went next week.

The 21st was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It is celebration of the birth of one of the greatest civil rights activists in United States’ history. He believed in the power of nonviolent protest, and followed in the footsteps of other important historical activists such as Mahatma Gandhi, who managed to non-violently gain independence for India. Martin Luther King was beaten, arrested, and eventually killed in his fight for equal rights for dark skinned Americans. To celebrate his accomplishments we now get to take a day of school, and we can use that time to appreciate the rights we enjoy everyday because of people like Martin Luther King Jr., or watch daytime television.

On the 15th Jaime Banducci’s portfolio was presented. The student of the week this past week was Justin Duncan. He was selected as student of the week for his perfect attendance, always being on task, and for doing great on his schoolwork.

That is what has been happening at Carlé High School this week! Thank you for reading!

Atlee Erickson is a junior at Carlé High School.
