LAKEPORT, Calif. – Jean Doris Rosenaur was born on Sept. 14, 1928, in Louisville, Kentucky, the youngest child of Charles F. and Hazel, little sister of Charles E. She joined them in heaven on Jan. 16, 2014.

In her 87 years Jean knew love and grief, sorrow and joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Sachs and daughter Kitty Kimbell. She is survived by her son Ziggy Katt of Texas, son Bob Katt of N.Y., eight grandchildren, 18 grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Her greatest joy in life was music. Her high school year book described her as a always “humming in the school – member of the Glee Club – will someday stand in front of a class teaching music.” In a later part of the yearbook where the yearbook team guessed what they thought the graduates would be up to in 10 years it was prophesied that Jean would be “teaching Bing how to croon.”

In the 1940s she regularly sang on the radio. In every decade of her life she sang in Methodist church choirs. Psalm 100:2b invites “Come into His presence with singing.” One can only imagine her delight to do so now.

Jean will be buried with her husband on Friday, Feb. 7, at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.

Flowers die but music is eternal. If you would like to make a donation in Jean’s honor you are invited to send it to United Christian Parish where her granddaughter Shannon Kimbell-Auth is the pastor and director of the children’s choir iSing. She would be delighted to, even in her death, share the gift of music with the next generation.
