LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Hospice Services of Lake County is offering a four-part workshop series for community members who desire to be more knowledgeable and skillful in their relationships with those who are experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one.

This workshop is designed to meet the variety of needs in our community and is recommended for caregivers, counselors, human service professionals, volunteers and anyone else interested.

The workshop is divided into four Saturday sessions. Workshops will take place on Feb. 2 and 16, and March 2 and 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bereavement Center on the Hospice Campus at 1862 Parallel Drive, Lakeport.

There is a $25 material fee to cover resources, tools and materials included in the training.

Participants will receive a variety of printed materials and a DVD. Complimentary snacks and beverages will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch.

Sessions will be facilitated by Bereavement Services Manager Kathleen Bradley, LPT, and Bereavement Services Coordinator Jo Moore, MA.

Bradley and Moore will lead participants through topics using a bereavement support group model including guided discussions, use of DVDs, and instruction.

“Interactions involving our collective experiences with death and dying will enrich the learning environment as we journey through this group process together,” said Bradley.

Supporting individuals who are mourning the loss of a loved can be challenging especially in Lake County where so many complicated deaths occur.

A deeper understanding of grief and enhanced skills will help participants reach out and comfort those that are grieving.
