WILLOWS – The U.S. Forest Service will be selling surplus vehicles and miscellaneous equipment by public Internet auction.


The Mendocino and Shasta-Trinity National Forests will sell vehicles, miscellaneous equipment and office furniture, to the highest Internet bidder.


As of Nov. 30, bid items are available on the GSA Web site, www.gsaauctions.gov .


Internet bidding began Nov. 30 and will continue through Dec. 8 until the posted deadline time per sale item, Central Standard Time.


On the GSA Web site, type in sale number 91QSCI10097 into the “Enter Search Text” box. Only Forest Service items will be displayed.


With each item of this search there is an assigned number, description, photos(s) if available, and a contact name and phone number if further inquiry is needed.


Bidders are cautioned to view the “Terms and Conditions” (in the blue tool bar at the top of the page) for all requirements regarding registering, bidding, payment, warranties, and removal of successfully bid items.


Internet sale vehicles and equipment are available for public viewing weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, through Tuesday, Dec. 8. Viewing at the Willows office will include Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

LAKEPORT – The Lakeport Planning Commission has issued a notice of adjournment for its next regular meeting.


The Dec. 9 meeting has been canceled.


The next regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.

LAKEPORT – The Lake County Chamber of Commerce has released the list of winners in the lighted parade held at the conclusion of the Dickens' Christmas Market this past Saturday.


The results are as follows.

Mendo Lake Credit Union was the parade sponsor, with Paul Reading of Piedmont Lumber serving as parade announcer.


Piedmont Lumber provided the stage and Pat Norcio and her crew took charge of stage decorations.

LUCERNE – The Lake County Democratic Club will meet for its annual holiday party on Saturday Dec. 12.


They will meet in the main dining room of the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, 3985 Country Club Drive in Lucerne.


The event will start with refreshments. Members are asked to bring appetizers at 1pm.


The annual election of officers for 2010 will be held and the Appreciation Awards for 2009 will be presented.


For our annual charity, the club has chosen the Lake County Family Resource Center's Freedom House domestic violence shelter to receive contributions collected at this meeting.

LAKEPORT – The third annual Avenue of Lights will be open for five nights, Dec. 16 through 20, at the Lake County Fairgrounds.


Vehicles will be admitted starting at 5:30 p.m., and the grounds will close each evening at 9 p.m.


Cars are expected to take about one-half hour to tour all of the displays.


A concession stand operated by nonprofits and offering hot chocolate, cider, coffee and other snacks will be available at the entrance gate.


A low power FM broadcast will play continuous holiday music so that patrons can tune in their car radios.


Enter the fairgrounds through the main gate on Martin Street; cars will be directed though the fairgrounds by volunteers.


The Lake County Fairgrounds are located at 401 Martin St., Lakeport.

LUCERNE – A small white dog is missing from her home in Lucerne, and her family is offering a reward for her safe return.


The 8-pound terrier is about 13 years old and was last seen on Foothill Drive on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 28.


The dog was wearing a collar and license tags.


She is missing one eye and is hard of hearing. However, she responds to friendly gestures and pats, and enjoys cheese.
