Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Program Grant funding available

LUCERNE, Calif. – The Lake County Continuum of Care announced the availability of Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Program grant funding.

The Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention Program, or HHAP, is a block grant program designed to expand or develop local capacity to address immediate homelessness challenges throughout the county.

Spending must be informed by a best practices framework focused on moving homeless individuals and families into permanent housing and ensuring those individuals and families maintain their permanent housing.

Funding is available for a navigation center. The Lake County Continuum of Care has prioritized and applied to use these funds to support the establishment of two navigation centers, one on each end of Lake County. Each navigation center shall include year‐round emergency shelter and/or a supportive housing project.

Funds available for this project totals $440,000. Interested agencies can apply for all or part of the funding and collaboration among agencies is encouraged.

Agencies applying must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, government or tribal that serves those struggling with homelessness or at‐risk of becoming homeless in Lake County.

The application is due by Sept. 25, 2020

The Lake County Continuum of Care is a HUD‐designated organization that promotes communitywide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; provides funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, and state and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness; promotes access to and effects utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families; and optimizes self‐ sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
