LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport City Council this week will consider awarding a bid for a force main project, discuss renovations for the former Lakeport Police headquarters and meet several new staffers.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
At Tuesday's meeting, several new city employees will be introduced to the council, including new Finance Director Nicholas Walker, Financial Services Specialist Shannon Delgado, and water systems operators Chris Pion and Larry Meldrum.
In council business, Public Works Director Doug Grider will ask the council to authorize the city manager to execute a contract with Allen Gill Construction for the completion of the USDA Highway 29 Force Main Project.
Grider's report said the project is for performing directional drilling of approximately 600 feet of 18-inch fusible PVC casing and installation of approximately 600 feet of 12-inch fusible PVC force main within the casing, including tie-in at both ends to the existing sewer system.
Millville-based Allen Gill Construction was the low bidder, submitting a bid of $523,683.
Grider also will present to the council a proposal for renovations to the former Lakeport Police station, located at 916 N. Forbes St.
With the police department moving to its new location at 2025 Main St. this month, the city plans to lease out the N. Forbes Street building and has a new tenant lined up to lease it beginning in February, Grider reported.
He said the building's carpet and vinyl flooring needs to be replaced, and new interior paint on the walls and ceilings also is needed.
Grider is seeking a budget amendment of $26,060 to cover the improvements, which will be carried out by local vendors.
City Attorney David Ruderman also will take to the council a request to form a groundwater sustainability agency for the area of the Scotts Valley basin within the city’s service area. City staff will bring back dates for a public hearing on a resolution to form an agency.
On the meeting's consent agenda – items considered noncontroversial and usually accepted as a slate on one vote – are ordinances; warrant registers dated Dec. 20 and Jan. 5; and minutes from the Jan. 3 meeting.
