Mueller: Speaking for those without a voice PDF Print E-mail
Written by Bette Mueller
Saturday, 23 August 2008

This is on behalf of millions of babies who were aborted and have no voice, but especially those who were aborted late term. Frivolous, heartless statements on unborn babies have been sent to this news media. There are also skewed facts about Barack Obama’s stance on abortion as presented during an interview by Pastor Rick Warren at the Saddleback Church.

Some people say they don’t want meddling interference from the government. However, they want the government to keep giving money and free doctors (with our taxes) to Planned Parenthood. In a speech to Planned Parenthood in July of 2007, Obama said we have got to be sure to appoint Supreme Court Justices who will never overturn Roe vs. Wade. That speech wasn’t above his pay grade, and it wasn’t God that said it.

When Sen. Obama answered "When does life begin?" he said it was above his pay grade to answer. While that sounds godly to some, the fact is that within his pay grade as a senator in Illinois, he argued against letting a baby live after it manages to get past the abortion and make it out alive. The bill he argued against was to let a baby live if it was born alive despite the attempted homicide. Instead, the baby is just placed somewhere to die. Late term abortion is performed in at least two ways. One is to induce labor and hope it just dies on during labor. Another is to make the baby come out feet first, break the spine just before it’s born and then vacuum the brains out of the baby’s head. I don’t know if the brains are saved for research or if they just throw them away. Now if you were leaving this all up to God, why did you need a doctor and a bunch of machinery?

I assume there will be a flurry of far-left liberal people here who regularly engage in personal attacks and vindictive responses, because opinions from anyone who disagrees with them will be accused of being a liar or far-right radical Christian. Never mind if they’re just plain normal people. Just think of the unborn babies if you have a soul. At least think against late term abortion. Would you purposely kick a dog in the stomach because she is pregnant and you don’t feel like puppies this month?

OK Bette, let's see what kind of Christian you REALLY are.
Did you support the santions and ten-year long bombing campaign against Iraq which resulted in the deaths of at least a half million Iraqi children?
(an equivalent to over 6 million American kids)

Did you decry the use of your tax money to fund the school of the Americas, where the fine points of torture techniques were taught for decades?

did you protest against America fighting a ten-year proxy war in Afghanistan using the Taliban and Bin Laden as our troops that killed a million Afghans and left the country in shambles and run by religious fanatics?

Did you adopt one of the 50,000 un-wanted kids in California, or help mentor one of the tens of thousands in the CYA who had lousey parents?

Or did you distort the facts about the so-called late term abortions, descibing them as if they were routine and performed on healthy, viable fetuses?

Did you ignore the fact that planned parenthood has prevented MILLIONS of unwanted pregnacies and prevented Millions of cases of STDs?

perspective, objectivity and basic facts are missing from your position, it's time to rethink it.

Here is an idea, how about instead of pointing fingers and putting the responsibility and judgment on lawmakers, how about putting the responsibility on the human beings who committed the adult act and should now be considered adults with personal responsibility towards their actions? I would think, logically, a Christian would not judge other human beings for their actions because (according to The Bible) that is God's job.

What I don't understand is how we expect others to combat this problem without arming them with the proper tools to do so. The same people who are against abortion are often the same people who are against sex education and contraception. They seem to approach abortion as if snipping off head of the weed is going to kill the entire weed. Unfortunately, the weed is still going to be there, in the end, unless you get to the root of it.

How about supporting a little education and a few programs that would actually force human beings to think about the consequences of their actions and take a little responsibility for their choices? How about realizing that if a human being is old enough to procreate they are old enough to understand the concept and consequences of procreation and be held accountable to them? If someone is acting as an adult maybe they need to understand what it means to truly be an adult.

Just a thought.

They want you to think a fetus is a baby. For them, life begins at conception and ends at birth. They believe in the ownership society -- you're on your own.

Let's keep religion in the church, in the home and out of government.

not only about abortion. Teaching abstinance only courses has been a great big fat failure. Birth control - and adult response to adult behavior - should be available to those who seek it. If we ever, as a society, get to the point where we care about a child as much after it is born as some due while it is in utero, then abortion will become obsolete without government intervention. Barack didn't sound godly with his answer, he sounded humble and honest. Wonder how God feels about your deliberate distortion of facts regarding his position on late term proceedures? And please, do tell, what do we make of spontaneous miscarriages? Act of Nature? God's little abortions? What do we do about the victims of rape and incest? Smurf made some pretty good points about our humanity in general, lots to think about here. And please, Ms. Mueller do tell us you have adopted. There are far more registered republicans and evangelicals than there are unadopted children - if you walk the talk there should be ZERO children in America in need of adoption.

an abstinence-only program, while refusing to educate them about contraception and sex, is a return to the dark ages, to ignorance and to the denial of reality, and criminal in the current conditions of rampant sexually transmitted diseases.
The US government has no business enforcing extreme religious beliefs, unless it wants to model itself after such other fundamentalist governments as that of Saudi Arabia, or after the Taliban.
Yet the Bush administration is attempting to force its radical right-wing agenda in its last five months in Washington.
The proposed changes at the Department of Health would redefine some kinds of contraception as abortion, even contraception before implementation. Hospitals that offered such contraception would forfeit federal aid. They would also forfeit the aid if they refused to hire professionals who opposed abortion or birth control. This regulatory change would also undermine state laws that require hospitals to provide emergency contraception to rape victims. Check out the Federal Register, it's all there.

Another thought if you please. One may not except the notion of abortion and with that act give endorsement to all the other evils of this world. We might also wonder why this society can do away with the unborn that cause no harm and find it hard to do away with those that do. Some may believe we reach inside ourselfs and chose our worse gualitys rather than our best. This assuming there is only rhetoric with our view could be wrong and could have nothing to do with a church. As I said only a thought.
inov8tiv - Fear not Ms. Mueller IP:12.202.54.xxx | 08-23-2008 22:42:27
Fear not, no one will see any need to accuse you "of being a liar or far-right radical Christian".

Fear not, no one will see your claim that Obama (or any other leader for that matter) would ever argue "against letting a baby live after it manages to get past the abortion and make it out alive" That is so outrageous as to be unbelievable and in fact is not factual.

Fear not, no one will recognize that your lurid abortion descriptions are designed to inflame emotions in keeping with a widespread Swift boat style smear Obama campaign, the product of the radical rights Deal Hudson who sits on a John McCain advisory board.

Fear not, no one will associate the specific timing of your letter, which distorts a 2002 event while parroting the repugnant misleading claims of the 2008 radical far-right's smear effort. Of course, given that simultaneous timing no one will reach the conclusion that you may be a far-right propagandist wolf dressed in Christian clothing.
