LAKEPORT – The California Highway Patrol has named the lead suspect who they're seeking in connection with a high-speed chase that took place last week.

On Tuesday, the CHP said they're filing charges with the District Attorney's Office against Evonne Sheree Donohue, 38, of Crockett, according to CHP Officer Adam Garcia.

Donohue is being charged with felony evading police, fraud, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and other violations.

The CHP has not yet arrested Donohue, who they're still attempting to locate, Garcia said.

Donohue is alleged to have led CHP on a high-speed pursuit June 10, as Lake County News has reported.

CHP Officer Mark Crutcher spotted Donohue allegedly speeding in a stolen Dodge Ram pickup on Highway 29 at around 9:30 p.m. June 10.

When he attempted to pull the pickup over it fled. The occupants reportedly were throwing objects out of the pickup during the pursuit, but Garcia said none of those objects were recovered.

The pursuit eventually ended in downtown Lakeport, where police and sheriff's deputies joined CHP in attempting to apprehend the pickup's occupants, who fled the scene on foot.

Investigators found in the truck a number of stolen items, said Garcia, including more than 200 credit cards and identification cards alleged to have been stolen. He said it's still not been determined how the cards were illegally obtained.

Lakeport resident Marian Muniz, 49, is believed to have been Donohue's accomplice and passenger during the pursuit, said Garcia. No charges have been filed against her at this time, with the investigation – led by Crutcher – continuing.

Donohue has a lengthy criminal history, said Garcia. That includes a first-degree burglary arrest in Lake County January of 2007.

smurf, when the police drive they have to slow through intersections and take several cautions. An evading vehicle normally will not. Therefore, it is easy to see what a vehicle can flee from a police cruiser and get away. Usually, a turn is taken and the suspect will flee on foot as soon as they are out of the road, some times the cruiser is only 100 or 200 yards away.

Smurf, thank you for the laugh. To their credit, however, I would like to add the following true story. Close to two years ago, I had a drunken ranch hand out back. Good guy. Tried to clean him up but wound up evicting. Multiple DUI's. What's new for Flake County where, if the women have two teeth, they're sexy! He spent some time in the county pen for driving with no license but then had to go to jail down south to finish up some time owed there. So, one morning, acting on an outstanding warrant, this deputy enters our front gate -- all alone with my Rottie looking at him funny mind, you -- to arrest my ranch hand whose shotgun was hidden in his trailer. Granted, they knew he was no harm, but you never know. And I watched the guy do his arrest: polite, kind, waited for my ranch hand to get dressed, cuffed him, and took him off. I thought to myself, "Man, it's nice to see a cop with cajones, common sense, and decency like I remember them when I was a kid. Wyatt Earp, almost!" If this was the city I used to live in or anything like the SFPD, I'd expect multiple, fat-rumped, machine-gun-toting SWAT coming in all Elian Gonzales aggressive-like, you know? He asked me, "Sir, can you put away your dog. I need to execute a warrant for so and so." I said, "Sure, he's right over there." Had he come in less polite or in the wee hours of the morning -- announced or not -- you'd likely have read he was killed just because I was grumpy for being woken up and same for the ranch hand. Give the cops out here a break. I don't want them running over children on Main Street just to toss some Lake County flako in the jail for a month of good food, free rent, cable TV, and social services benefits.

Evonne grew up here and surely knows all the hiding places especially all those at the fair grounds which, given the location of the stop/crash, is most likely where she fled. Looser.
