LUCERNE – Two local brothers have received promotions in the Navy.

BU3 Elijah Christopher was recently promoted to 2nd Class Petty Officer (E-5). He is a construction builder currently serving in Iraq with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 17, a SeaBee Unit out of Port Hueneme.

The name SeaBee is a bacronym (a word that has been given an acronym definition) for Construction Battalions.

SW3 Zachary Christopher was recently promoted to 2nd Class Petty Officer also. He is a steel worker with Amphibious Construction Battalion One, Coronado Naval Air Base, and also currently serving in Iraq.

The SeaBees' motto is, “We Build We Fight Can Do! With Compassion for Others For Peace with Freedom.”

Eli Christopher is a 2002 graduate of Upper Lake High School, where his brother Zac also graduated in 2005.

They are the sons of John and Donna Christopher of Lucerne.

for the kind words. Yup, I can't wait till they are back home - along with everyone elses loved ones. "Peace with Freedom" sure sounds good to me.

It is great to read some positive news about the military. I was a Navy baby myself and know how great the members are. Congratulations, Christophers.
