MIDDLETOWN – Sunday, May 18 marks the fourth session of “Spirituality and Money” at the Middletown Community United Methodist Church.

The session begins at 4 p.m.

This week the facilitator will focus the discussion on the question, What are we asking when we pray, “Give us this day our daily bread?”

Each person will be offered the opportunity to discern what their basic daily needs truly are, compared to what society may be calling us to acquire.

Participants will examine the ways that God may already be providing for their needs.

The public is invited to attend this free event.

Immediately following workshop at 5 p.m. will be the second of bi-monthly Episcopal evening prayer services. This service will feature the Rev. Peggy Thompson who will preach on, Genesis 1:1-2:4a. Her sermon title is “Evolution or Creation: What does it matter?”

These programs are held at the Middletown Community United Methodist Church, 15833 Armstrong in Middletown.

For more information contact Peggy Thompson, 987-9343.

Evolution vs Creation does matter. It matters because interpretors of the bible need to determine how literal to take the bible. We can't call some of it literal and some of it symbolic. Did all humans come from Adam and Eve? Were their children incestuous? Were all the animals in the world wiped out, except for the ones on Jonah's boat? Thou shalt not kill. Does this mean not "murder" but killing during war is OK?
There are endless interpretations of the scriptures, often leading to hatred and even wars. We better decide if we worship the Bible or worship God.
