A nation is a form of self-defined cultural and social community. One of the most influential doctrines in Western Europe and the Western hemisphere since the late 18th century is that all humans are divided into groups called nations. [1] Nationhood is an ethical and philosophical doctrine and is the starting point for the ideology of nationalism. Members of a "nation" share a common identity, and usually a common origin, in the sense of history, ancestry, parentage or descent. Though a nation is not identical to a state, the people of a nation-state consider themselves a nation; while traditionally monocultural, it may also be multicultural in its self-definition. The term nation is often used as a synonym for ethnic group (sometimes "ethnos"), but although ethnicity is now one of the most important aspects of cultural or social identity, people with the same ethnic origin may live in different nation-states and be treated as members of separate nations for that reason. The word nation is also commonly used – although incorrectly – as a synonym for the word state or country. National identity is often disputed, down to the level of the individual. Almost all nations are associated with a specific territory, the national homeland. Some live in a historical diaspora, that is, mainly outside the national homeland. A state which explicitly identifies as the homeland of a particular nation is a nation-state, and most modern states fall into this category, although there may be violent disputes about their legitimacy. Where territory is disputed between nations, the claims may be based on which nation lived there first. With that on the table I would like to add a quote from one of our highly regarded founding fathers. … But are there no inconveniences to be thrown into the scale against the advantage expected from a multiplication of numbers by the importation of foreigners? It is for the happiness of those united in society to harmonize as much as possible in matters which they must of necessity transact together. Civil government being the sole object of forming societies, its administration must be conducted by common consent. Every species of government has its specific principles. Ours perhaps are more peculiar than those of any other in the universe. It is a composition of the freest principles of the English constitution, with others derived from natural right and natural reason. To these nothing can be more opposed than the maxims of absolute monarchies. *Yet, from such, we are to expect the greatest number of emigrants. They will bring with them the principles of the governments they leave, imbibed in their early youth; or, if able to throw them off, it will be in exchange for an unbounded licentiousness, passing, as is usual, from one extreme to another. It would be a miracle were they to stop precisely at the point of temperate liberty. These principles, with their language, they will transmit to their children. In proportion to their numbers, they will share with us the legislation. They will infuse into it their spirit, warp and bias its direction, and render it a heterogeneous, incoherent, distracted mass. I may appeal to experience, during the present contest, for a verification of these conjectures. The founding fathers basically said, that if we fail to maintain a homogeneous living space not only would third world peoples taint and change the racial complexion of our nation's European founding residents, but change our unique government into the form which reflects the third world that they themselves seek refuge from. Just like what happened in Zimbabwe, and Rhodesia. I would like to see some action against the invading third world. We must close our border and put and end to birthright citizenship. They have done immense damage to academia, and placed a burden on our medical institutions. It should be noted that they are indigent in the care they receive which transfers on to us Americans a higher share of cost for any necessary hospital visit. All of this we pay involuntarily. Furthermore, They have illegally smuggled across our border in their own bodies disease like tuberculosis and malaria which had previously been eliminated in the western world. This is tantamount to an act of biological warfare and warrants action. Furthermore, It should be noted that there have been a number of armed incursions by the Mexican military on our soil. I believe the Mexican military is just a security force to protect their own drug and human trafficking operations. *[From Notes on the State of Virginia, ed.
