LAKE COUNTY – The Lake County Superior Court is seeking at least 30 applicants willing to serve as jurors and alternates on the 2008-2009 Lake County Grand Jury panel.

The 19-person grand jury is selected from the different supervisorial districts in proportion to the population of each district.

The Grand Jury serves as the public’s “watchdog” by investigating and reporting upon the affairs of local government.

The term of service runs from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, and may entail from 10 to 20 hours of work per week attending committee and general meetings, responding to citizens’ complaints, performing research, and investigating the operations of governmental agencies and allegations of wrongdoing by public officials or employees.

The Court is looking for applicants in good health who are interested in community affairs, are objective, and are able to work cooperatively with others. Experience in researching, interviewing, writing and editing, and/or auditing is desirable and having a general knowledge of the responsibilities and functions of governmental and other public entities is helpful.

A grand juror must be a U.S. citizen, age 18 or older, speak English, be a resident of California and Lake County for at least one year prior to selection, and not hold an elected office or have any felony convictions.

Applications may be obtained by mailing a letter with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Grand Jury Coordinator, 255 N. Forbes, Fourth Floor, Lakeport, CA 95453. Applications are also available at each Superior Court Clerk’s Office; located at 255 N. Forbes, 4th Floor, in Lakeport, or at 7000 A South Center Drive, in Clearlake.

Further information may be obtained by calling the Grand Jury Coordinator at 263-2282. Applications must be received by May 30. Personal interviews will be scheduled prior to final selection.

If you are interested, please apply. If you are not interested, but know someone who may be, please let them know of this opportunity.

ROFL (Rolling on the floor laughing) You're so funny! Amazing how people like yourself who are clueless can spout off inappropriately but get defensive when someone points out YOUR shortcomings. Keep on ranting James, at least you are good for a laugh.

I have said and it is said now I receive no joy from telling the truth and if you have a good laugh so be it. You as others that chose to reply to my words have never been put down. So I'm clueless! did you point my flaws out? Because peolpe have good intensions and serve on the jury that fact gives no credence to the process. I'll ask you, did the watchdogs give us the name of the supervisor that violated the phone trust that was used for personal calls? The point is there is no power other than to advise. The grand Jury is a servant for the bureaucrats and not the people. I love our government but not pleased with the local tyrants and sorry you found my comments not to you liking but good life.
Make A Change then James

Rather than being anachronistic or just whining smilies/sad.gif , recommend change, not anarchy  , advance your recommendation, gather public approval smilies/smiley.gif , pursue "your" cause to fruition, then demonstrate the success of the new bureaucracy  . Or just apply to be a juror, put your personal agenda on hold, and do some real good for the county, anonymously and with little gratitude  .

With all due respect your words are cheap and have little value with a self serving system. My goal is to inform and that time will be soon over much to my delight and I'm sure most of you. I have made change. The local government has a complaint form were none had existence before. It has A form how one takes a grievance to the government with a paper trail now. This only took six years. One only has the right to complain and hope to garner the ears of people so change somes sooner rather than later. So to expose is the goal. so with good wishes become informed. this local government habors liars.
Always the Same

Your specific choice of four letter words has lost it's sting smilies/shocked.gifops: . It's the same over smilies/sad.gif and over smilies/sad.gif and over smilies/sad.gif and over smilies/sad.gif , but never substantiated  . But thank you smilies/cheesy.gif for the single stream complaint form, that was really a good thing. Now please stop tarnishing your accomplishment with your crass, uncorroborated, tired, contention.
