Carlé Chronicle: Prom date chosen, students present portfolios PDF Print E-mail

It's a new and nonfictional week this week at Carlé!

I am very sorry, and I hope that this does not affect my journalistic integrity, but I must confess that the information displayed in my last article was not entirely truthful or accurate. Stephen Colbert is an American hero, but the teachers did not really select him for student of the week.

The reason I made that mistake was that the true student of the week reminded me very much of Stephen Colbert. He and Colbert are both intelligent, smart, courageous and, of course, modest men, both involved in the field of journalism. The student of the week was of course none other than Atlee Erickson, a man for whom I have a great amount of respect. I hope you don't mind that I am speaking about myself in the third-person, but it is objective and without bias in my articles.

Atlee Erickson was chosen because of his good schoolwork, his hard work in writing weekly articles that are read by intelligent and respectable individuals, and for his attitude of respect, honesty and, above all, modesty. Also, some of the teachers came to a recent realization that he isn't simply a lazy student that does as little as possible, but actually works moderately hard.

The new student of the week is deserving of even more respect. He is a great student, very creative, intelligent, works hard and is one of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Congratulations to David

Ochoa, this week's student of the week. He is a kind person, a talented rapper, and has a very likable and fun personality.

Lavonne “Pogo” Pattee presented her portfolio on April 4, Ricky Giambra presented his portfolio on April 7 and Matthew Tipton presented his on April 11. This is their last requirement before they can graduate Carlé, so congratulations to all of them.

The date for Carlé High School's prom has been set as May 10 and the theme will be the Carlé Moulin Rouge Masquerade Ball. The students are very excited about the upcoming dance.

“Prom is the bomb!” Mia Dupard answered when asked about prom.

On April 19 there is a community service opportunity with the Lake County Land Trust, cleaning

Rodman Slough. Rodman Slough is a wetland that empties into Clear Lake and is home to many forms of beautiful wildlife. A torch will be brought by a John Spriet to cut particularly large pieces of litter.

That is all for this week's Chronicle! I am sorry for any misunderstandings developed from my

last article. Have a great week!

Atlee Erickson is a junior at Carlé High School.

Nothing wrong with a little tongue and cheek. Being one of those who reads your column frequently, I concluded that it was indeed you writing about yourself.
How else can one write about themselves without boasting and yet giving himself a pat on the back.
Well done, Student of the week, Stephen Colbert,. aka. Atlee Erickson
Besides, who else was going to write it?
