Donna Christopher - Benefit??? Author | 01-21-2008 17:02:58
We The People pick up the tab for street lights and electricity at the jail so We The People benefit - period. I can live without street lights, in fact as a star gazer I find them to be annoying tho the local dope dealers appreciate them, makes business in the evening easier. I am NOT willing to do without the County Jail. You're a little late to this discussion JW2008, it came before the entire Board of Supervisors last year. This is one of their best ideas yet, it saves us money and reduces the ol' carbon foot print. Call your supe for full details.

The installation of these solar arrays is meant to cut down on the current power bills for the jail and the county's wastewater treatment plants. They likely wouldn't be able to make a dent in the county's usage, but it is something to shoot for in the future -- have Lake County install its own solar generation to be free of fossil fuel-based power facilities.

a tour of our local fecal factory I was told that the two wastewater treatment facilities were the largest users of electricity in the county. Its been a while since that tour but if it still holds true (especially now that we're pumping stuff around the lake and up a big hill)we are really headed in the right direction and in a big way.
JW2008 - Will This be a open bid or clo Registered | 01-21-2008 21:06:50
Just another thought.

Will this be a open bid or closed bid?

I'm sure this will proceed with or without public hearings.

I think an open bid would be more transparent and transparency is what is needed in politics and government.

Don't live in Lakeport and Hell Yes I like my night skies that are a side effect of rural living. Lakeport is a city - nuff said. Can I live without street lights, uh yeah. So can you. You want streets paved - save money on energy costs and then you can pave streets. As far as the bidding process and cost ratios and all the other aspects regarding this project the public hearings were already held. Its public information, if you really want to get into the nuts and bolts the info is there.
