LAKEPORT – A man facing charges for a November murder will be back in court in the spring for setting of a preliminary hearing.
Ivan Garcia Oliver, 29, is accused of the Nov. 20 murder of Michael Dodele, 67.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Richard Hinchcliff, who is prosecuting Oliver for Dodele's murder, said Oliver was back in court Monday for further proceedings.
Hinchcliff said Oliver will be back in court on March 3 for setting of a preliminary hearing in the case.
Oliver also was rearrested in December after a correctional officer at the Lake County Jail found him in possession of a shank that he had made from a toothbrush.
Complicating the matter of getting court proceedings scheduled is the fact that last month Oliver also was indicted on federal charges for allegedly dumping hazardous materials into a San Diego County creek in 2005, as Lake County News has reported.
Hinchcliff said Lake County is having to “share” Oliver with San Diego for that federal prosecution.
Federal authorities previously agreed to work with Lake County, and plans to have the US Marshal's Office transport him back and forth to the San Diego hearings, as Lake County News reported last month.
