Carney: Surprised at vulgarity PDF Print E-mail
Written by Johnny Carney
Thursday, 20 December 2007

I must say I am surprised at the use of a vulgarism, in a letter (or comment) by one "Smurf" recently. The use of astericks does little to mollify or lessen this type of vulgarity.

Johnny Carney lives in Kelseyville.

I could agree with you and as this forum belongs to someone else. Free speach and all, tolerance is the norm of the times. I care little for those who would suggest my lifes course. That said you are able to respond and give your thoughts. Merry Christmas

is what it is. I don't have a problem with the vernacular especially when it comes to certain BOS members or carpetbagging politicians. Do you hear a flushing sound?

the right of everyone to their right to speech as long as it doesn't impact others in a violent manner. As for the vugarilty issue you raise which is your right to do so. That being said!

Should you be offended by anyones 'comments' in this medium whether the dialog is via (******)or any other forms of expression.

Rather than acting like the Online PC language authority. Perhaps you should read the 'Printed Newspapers', maybe their publications or censored comments of the people is more to what you desir and won't burn your ears, lol.

I respect your right to express your displeasure in what you read and will defend your right to say it.

Unlike other media in our community - (This 1) is powered by the - First Amendement -.

I have always supported everyone's right to freedom of speech including those people whom you have challenged here.

This is an Opinion section.

I have just expressed mine.

Enjoy your Christmas or whatever you believe in.

I say this I'm no prude but I will not wallow or read post from those that use words that offend. Our language offers ample words for one to express any thought they desire. Thats just common decency to refrain so not to offend. This has been a view and no words were used to scorn.I've earned that right to freely speak. Merry Christmas

Smurf says " it is what it is " and he's right. Vulgarity is vulgarity, a refuge of those with a limited vocabulary.
