LAKE COUNTY – Students from around Lake County experienced a day of learning Saturday at the Art and Science Camp.

One hundred and 35 fourth through sixth graders from all county school districts and non-public school settings took part in the event, which began at 7:45 a.m. and lasted until 4:30 p.m.

Included were 40-minute stations at locations including Anderson Marsh in Lower Lake, where students participated in a nature walk, music station, art station and science station; and Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville, where they experienced a planetarium show, solar telescope, music station and art station.

The free event was sponsored by the Children's Museum of Art and Science, Redbud Audubon Society, Anderson Marsh Interpretative Association, Lake County Office of Education and Clearlake Kiwanis.

I wanted to add our family's applause for this event. Our 10 year old son spent the very long day enjoying every minute of the camp. He exclaimed to my spouse as he ran to her at day's end,"I had the best time, EVER!"
This from a child who has been able to lead a very fun filled life. Once he got home he went on for another hour, non-stop, proclaiming everything he learned and saw that Saturday. He explained in detail the events he attended and took part in.
This event gave the participants a day to remember and I (we) thank them. I can now say that our donation to the museum at it's inception has paid off.
Thank you to all the sponsors and please consider doing this type of event more than once a year.
Good to know that there are truly good things happening in Lake County!
