another dupe lured into military service by either a big wad of cash or a misguided sense of patriotism, and another child left behind in the educational process. A good working knowledge of history and modern geo politics would have prevented this, for ignorance is the primary reason we are in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hope this guy doesn't come home in a box or with parts of his body, mind or soul missing

I wish you well in your service to this country. Please come home safe and sound and thank you for what you are willing to do. Try not to fret to much Grandma Grace in Upper Lake although I know that is easier said than done. I'm sure you already know how to ignore posts such as the one above. Tacky to the Nth degree, and cowardly as to its anonimity.

just trying to save some family some grief, and starve this war of it's primary means of continuing-ignorance.

is Congress' duty. Ha!, I just cracked myself up. C'mon Smurf, we both know if recruitment drops significantly then DC will reinstitute the draft. Have yet to met one active duty service member that wants someone not willing to be there beside them in a clinch. Congress must grow a back bone and starve the Iraq beast. That is not the duty of a buck private. His duty is to serve his country and come home safe and for that I thank him and all who serve.

or any other pre or para military, nor any US military should "wipe the floor" with any other American because of their opinions. We start that crap and we might as well cut out the middleman and hoist the Chinese or Russian or (fill in the blank)Flag and call it a day. This is America lcsage, we still have the right to make dumb remarks. I do it daily

the last time the US army did anything noble was in Bosnia/Kosovo, before that you have to go back to the Korean war-which would be over by now if we didn't have a bunch of loons running the show. Gulf war 1 was a bust, a lot of the killing in that war wa simply murder, the guys Iraq sent to Kuwait weren't real soldiers and weren't about to fight, we killed them by the thousands as they ran away or cowered in trenches. The point is you can't trust politicians of any stripe, America just gets in WAY too many wars-look at the dozens of countries we've bombed since ww11.

FYI are US Marines. No serviceman likes being called a dupe or a stooge. That is a certain to get your butt kicked. Serviceman are about doing the mission against the global war on terror. The National Guard is just as good at what they do as Regular Army. Perhaps you would be more comfortable speaking Arabic. Not me. I repeat my challenge for you to attend one of the local Vet's group meetings and repeat your comments. They would use your head for a mop and your @$$ for a broom. You and your like-minded ilk are why we have 9-11s. Cowards can go live in Canada with the rest of the woosies.

and I agree on many things but I really think any country that uses its military to stifle dissent is not a free one. And I doubt if St. Mary's Parish Hall is the appropriate place to take to scrappin' with those you disagree with. This is a serious question, why are Canadians cowards? Is it simply that they didn't follow W in his long walk off a short pier? If you do a little digging you can easily see where American Policies have set the stage for a 9-11 to happen. And there is plenty of blame to be spread around on that one, from the DMV in Virginia that issued driver's license to many of the highjackers to Bubba's failure to get Bin Laden to W's failure to get him along the myriad of missteps that occurred in between. Bin Laden is like the big zit on the nose of an acne filled face, it may catch your initial attention and you can pop it but that doesn't make the face clear up. Maybe we shouldn't talk smack to Canada right now, all our troops and equipment are half a world away Lcsage, I think you and I agree that we wish this young man all the best in the world - the article is about him - not you, I or smurf.

is a , malcontents, misfits and terrorists which is concerning because of our northern border. I have nothing for contempt for the "dissent" comments of people like smurf and personally find them un-American and communistic. They smack highly of anarchy. The majority of the media has become nothing more than left wing trash, also basically anti-American. Yes, we agree - The best to this young man and all like him. I applaud him and wish him and his fellow servicemen well. Our resident self-proclaimed military expert can take a flying leap............to Toronto. Or if he wants to stay in the US, maybe Dearborn would be the proper place.

strikes again. "Canada is a haven for cowards" .............talk about leftie media
smurf - FYI Registered | 10-07-2007 15:14:17
I know more about military weapons, tactics and history than you do by far, so don't even go there icage. Another FYI is that we are in a "global war on terror" because we have been in way too many other countries doing things we shouldn't do (supporting Saddam for 30 years, snuffing out democracy and installling a thug as leader of Iran-which led to the islamic government we deal with today-and this is the tip of the iceberg), The reason we were attacked on 9-11 was our former friend Bin Laden got mad over us building huge bases in Saudi Arabia and using them to MURDER defenseless Iraqi civilians by the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS by bombing their water- sewer-power plants for TWELVE YEARS. Killing 3,000 Americans doesn't make sense either, but the crimes we committed in Iraq during the 1990's are why we have the Al Qaeda problem-period.

I blame Clinton for setting up this disaster and Bush for completing it, and the American media for being the useless flag-waving twits that they certainly are, ignorance got us into this and that's their fault.
