Carlé Chronicle: Students busy with many projects PDF Print E-mail

As you all know we at Carlé do what we can to help the environment. We are constantly recycling and doing creek restoration projects. We are in a partnership with the Lower Lake Watershed Council and Konocti Unified school district to do just that.

The Konocti Unified School district owns a part of the Seigler Canyon Creek that we will be planting willow wattles along to prevent erosion. On September 6 Todd Fiora, Corey Givens, Kim Fuller,

Vonnie Claytor, Matthew Tipton, Matt Mack, Cindy Amaral, Brendon Melton and Joyce Walker volunteered from Carlé to harvest and bundle the willows to make the willow wattles.

The willows will soak in Dan Desmond's pond for one week so they can begin to grow roots healthily. Alongside our student volunteers we had adult volunteers that are part of the restoration of the creek: Charlotte Griswold, Dan Desmond and Fran Ransley. Thanks guys!

We are always having projects and events because we believe in teamwork and working together, not against each other. Right now we are having a horseshoe throwing tournament and a scrabble play off.

I would like to give a round of applause to our first two students of the week, Kevin Almond and

Mia Dupard. Kevin is always setting an example by being helpful and positive. Mia is a new student that works hard and is very level-headed.

I would also like to congratulate LaVonne Pattee for receiving the $50 perfect attendance award. We have a couple more additions to our school welcome to Ino Morano and Bryan Layne.

On Sept. 7 we had a special event that involved music and diversity, two of our favorite things. It was the wonderful music of Edmund Badoux and Francy Vida¹s music of the Andes band called “Chaskinakuy.” They played a very unique form of music that lets us get a quick peek of what other cultures listen to. Thank you so much for exposing us to this great music.

Thank you for reading! Tune in next week.

Once again, I am impressed by your school. Keep up the good work.

Network and conglomerate owned newspapers are dinosaurs. I'm pleased to see the next generation here on this interactive media. Us geezers are a little slow to catch on but don't let us discourage you.

I truly believe that a school's atmosphere is directly related to its leadership. In this case Bill McDougal and his staff (teachers, receptionist, & maintenance) have created an educational oasis for students to flourish. All you have to do is step on campus and say hello to a couple students or staff to feel the difference.

Kudos to Carle’ and Blue Heron!!!
