Harris: Local straw poll finds for Clinton PDF Print E-mail
Written by Wanda Harris
Monday, 03 September 2007

Forget those scientific polls you keep hearing and reading about ... Lake County Democrats conducted our own straw poll at our fair booth over the Labor Day weekend.

We had many responses and a lot of enthusiasm expressed for the presidential candidates; 131 people participated in the straw poll.

As with national scientific polling, Hillary Clinton takes the lead in this wholly unscientific survey.

Democrats have a supremely talented and qualified array of candidates to choose from for the 2008 presidential election.

As Democrats here in Lake County and nationwide work hard for their own candidate during the primary season, we are committed to coming together next year and supporting wholeheartedly the winner of the primaries.

America knows that putting a Democrat in the White House in 2008 is our country's best hope.

If you did not get a chance to participate, look for our ballot box at the DEMOCRATIC booth at the Kelseyville Pear Festival on Sept. 29.

We want to thank all of our booth volunteers and the supporters we visited with over the Labor Day weekend.

It is a pleasure to be at the fair and we are proud to be a regular participant.

We know that the staff and directors work tirelessly to put on the best fair in the state!

Wanda Harris is chair of Lake County's Democratic Central Committee.

lets review: we have Hillary, who wants to start a war with Iran, helped get us into Iraq and set back health care reform more than a decade. Edwards helped sink John Kerry's campaign with his non-presence and who also helped us into Iraq. Biden? Another war monger with a slew of mistakes in his resume. Richardson is another proven incompetent party hack not worth considering. Obama is an amatuer who blows in the wind like a blade of grass, and can't be the guy because it's Hillary's turn-just ask her! Kucinich? A well intentioned but clueless dwarf who has set back the left years. Face it guys, you got a whole lot of nothing!

I generally agree with Wanda's analysis. It seems to me that ANY continuation of the current U.S. foreign policy of International Intimidation through Warfare will lead to our country's further decline as a world power. We have become one of the most distrusted, and yes, even HATED countries in the world as a result of the current "Administration's" warmongering. We MUST change! Hillary is intelligent, diplomatically capable, and has the fortitude to accomplish that change! In my opinion, she represents the best choice for the job...

Brian, Brian, Brian, if you were a young, uneducated woman (Hillary's base), I could forgive you, but you're not. HRC has done almost nothing of note in 8 years of being senator, helped get us into iraq and wants to start a war with Iran-and you think she's a diplomat? Like all mainstream democrats HRC is a Israeli government whore who wil bring even more chaos to the middle east with her anti-arab anti Islamic bias. HRC is a proven incompentent, and the people who support her are just as clueless as she is. The only good news about HRC being the front runner is that if she is the dems choice then Nader will run-probably, so there will be an intellegent, decent, honest and competent person in the race.

we should realize that each of us is the leader he or she has been looking for...that for America to change, to adapt to new world and environmental conditions, we must change, particularly change our lifestyles. The party is over, the long period of irresponsible behavior is ending, the rent is due: we can no longer live like spoiled brats who take whatever we want from the earth and give back trash and toxic waste, without a thought for the future generations. No President, no administration is going to force a change on us, particularly when industry profits so much from despoiling the environment, we must, each of us, find the courage to change and to lead our government away from hyper militarization and the exhaustion of resources, which are suicidal trends that can only lead to global war.
