A Mediacom representative said the Internet outage was reported just after 8 a.m. Saturday and affected about 800 customers.

The outage, according to Mediacom, was caused by two damaged nodes, which are pieces of equipment connecting fiberoptic cable to local cable networks. The company was suffering both hardware and software issues related to the issues with the nodes.

By 2 a.m. Sunday Internet service had not yet been restored. However, Mediacom said crews were working throughout the night until the problem was fixed.

By 7 a.m. services had been restored.

Donna Christopher - Monopolies Author | 09-02-2007 16:28:23 This is a great example of why they suck as loudly as the service from our local cable/hsi provider. Any other business that so consistently offered up such crappy service would have left town years ago. Everytime the wind blows in our neighborhood the lower channels go to snow. Last time I called them (on a Monday) they said they should have it fixed by Thursday. I told them to remove those days from my bill. They came right out. Maintenance - try it, we'll like it.

IP:12.226.113.xxx | 09-04-2007 02:16:12 If "the Internet outage was reported just after 8 a.m" why did Mediacom's Service Department recording state there was no outage until sometime in the afternoon? When I called to report the outage why was there no answer at the Service Dept even after an 11 minute and a 16 minute wait for " a service representative will be with you shortly" I got the definite impression that there was no one there at all. All in all it was poor performance and even worse customer service.
