IHSS Advisory Committee: Time to recognize IHSS workers PDF Print E-mail
Written by IHSS Advisory Committee

To all In-Home Supportive Service (IHSS) Providers of Lake County: Nov. 8 through 14 is In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Home Care Worker Recognition Week.

There are nearly 1600 IHSS caregivers in Lake County giving quality care to IHSS recipients. The compassion and patience given to each recipient allows them the benefit of living in their own home environment safe and secure, knowing a provider will respond to their needs.

The IHSS Advisory Committee would like to acknowledge the quality care, commitment and compassion providers give to their recipients. Providers, continue standing for your recipients for what is right, proudly and professionally. We stand with you.

Thank you, IHSS providers of Lake County.

Tom Gressley, chair, and the members of the Lake County IHSS Advisory Committee

IHHS Appreciation
written by socialworker, November 04, 2009
You know, there are always folks who thrive on putting out negative energy and IHHS providers have had more than their fair share. The reality is a very small percentage of inappropriate workers have received a lot of press- at times stigmatizing the brave majority.
In the years spent as a social worker in the Tenderloin of SF and for Hospice Services of Lake County and Community Care HIV/AIDS Program, the IHHS workers I have met are real heroes and s/heroes. These are the folks who are in the trenches, doing hard work, for little pay, or recognition.
Most of the consumers of these services are grateful to have that person looking in on them and helping them with tasks they cannot do. It is a gift for Lake County "systems" that the hard work performed by IHHS workers, keep consumers in their homes, with some independancy. It is especially financially-beneficial to all that IHHS workers help to keep consumers from clogging the ER's, hospitals, rest homes and other institutions.
Hat's off to the front-line IHHS workers- to who many are indebted. Peace. Ken
