CLEARLAKE OAKS – A recent blind tasting at the People’s Choice Awards held at Six Sigma Winery proved a true testament to Shannon Ridge Winery's Michael Wood's expertise in winemaking.

After the unveiling of the top two Cabernet Sauvignons were found to be created by Wood the winery has officially crowned him “The King of Cab.”

Wood handcrafted Shannon Ridge's 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, which received 94 point and a gold award at the California State Fair, gold and best of class at the San Francisco Chronicle wine competition and 91 points in Just Wine's competition.

Shannon Ridge most recently came in second in the Lake County People’s Choice Awards in the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, and Wood’s own label, Shed Horn Cellars 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, came in first place. His masterful blends are consistently becoming award-winning wines.

“We are very lucky to have Michael Wood as our winemaker and wine production manager,” Clay and Margarita Shannon of Shannon Ridge Winery said. “His many years of experience and expertise in winemaking are a huge asset to our team.”

The award-winning 2007 Shannon Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon can be purchased locally at fine wine retailers or it is also offered in Shannon Ridge’s Tasting Room located at 12599 E. Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.  All of Shannon Ridge wines are also available online at www.shannonridge.com .
