The garbage can rant: - 2007/05/03 23:52 I have a problem with the garbage cans and recycle cans in Clearlake. Why is it, most people leave these in the street 24/7/365? I am tired of dodging around them while driving not to mention the ascetics of seeing the cans out on non pickup days. Perhaps it’s a pride of ownership issue, like someone who buys a new Lexus or Mercedes and parks it proudly for all to admire. "Look at me, I have trash pickup!"

Normal towns and cities regulate this type of unabashed show of pride by requiring that the containers not be placed at the street until 6 PM the night before pickup and removed by 6 PM the next day. I would suggest this to one of our fine public servants but cannot bring myself to play the three/four monkey game. Obviously "See No" has averted his/her eyes to avoid a damaging internal conflict.

Well at least some of the residents have a can or three so the only things they dump along our back roads are the occasional couch, abandoned vehicle or appliance which will not fit in even the 95 gallon receptacles. I have to admire the ingenuity of our population as most if not all have devised clever strategy to place over 100 gallons of waste into these behemoth recycling containers.
