has been involved in sueing companies that are planting gmo\'s and pharma crops which are even more dangerous. The state of Hawaii and the University of Hawaii are encouraging the companies to grow that stuff by giving them tax incentives to come to the state. The local economy has suffered since many countries wont allow gmo crops in and have banned them. The organic farmers have been adversely affected by the stray pollinations and the bacteria that these plants contain. Maybe an Earth Justice member is living in the county or general area and can give advice of this subject. - boondoggle

Pretty Much

I think that pretty much everyone who wants to become involved in this comittee is going to have some sort of biased stance on the subject. There is really not much that can be done to avoid it. It\'s a pretty passionate issue, as we are speaking of both people\'s lives and livelihoods. And, to be quite honest, I would rather see a balanced committee with people who have strong minds and are passionate about the subject rather than have an unbalanced committee with people who know very little about the subject and could really care less about it one way or the other. As long as there were a balanced amount of people who are both for and against, as long as they didn\'t represent themselves as being something they weren\'t (like a university professor who gets his grant money indirectly from Monsanto but claims to be an unbiased opinion), I wouldn\'t think it would be a problem. - purplegirl

Seems to me that it\'s particularly crucial to select unbiased members for the two \"science\" slots since they will be expected to provide professional expertise rather than personal perspectives and (more or less well-informed) opinions. - vbrandon

stacking the deck- that is what Rob was trying to do, and Guisti was his ringer. Rob got grumpy when I pulled the plug on his little scam, which is just too bad for him because I\'ll be damned if I\'ll let such an obvious attempt to rig the outcome go by unchallenged. Rob is worried that if a group of intelligent, unbiased people get together they are unlikely to agree with him on this issue, because Rob has always been using smoke and mirrors to make his case on this. - smurf
