> I DO NOT WANT TO OFFEND ANYONE OR TO PLACE A BAND ON
> ANYONE\'S SEXUAL PREFERENCE OR THEIR LIFE STYLE. BUT I
> HAVE HAD IT ON THE PROP 8.
>
> GROWING UP IN SAN FRANCISCO I KNEW GAY\'S BEFORE THEY
> "CAME OUT" AND HAVE WATCHED THEIR PUSH TO BE
> ACCEPTED AS HUMAN BEINGS TO LIVE, LOVE, AND TO PURSUE
> HAPPINESS. I HAVE TOLERATED THAT PUSH AND HAVE SUPPORTED
> THE EFFORT.
>
> I HAVE FRIENDS THAT ARE GAY (MALE AND FEMALE) AND THEY ARE
> THE MOST BRILLIANT AND TALENTED FOLKS I HAVE EVER MET
> WITHOUT A DOUBT. "THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING"
> (BOB DYLAN) AND PROP 8 HAS REALLY PISSED ME OFF.
>
> I WAS PLEASED THAT THEY RECEIVED THE DOMESTIC PARTNER
> REQUEST AND I FELT THAT WAS THAT..OH NO! NOW THEY WANT TO
> MARRY EACH OTHER AND SINCE THEY LOST THE MEASURE THEY HAVE
> BECOME CRUEL AND RUDE. THEY ARE ALSO TRYING TO TAKE OVER THE
> RIGHTS GIVEN TO A WOMAN AND A MAN
> "MARRIAGE".
>
> THEY ARE NOT BEING DENIED THE RIGHT TO SPEECH OR CIVIL
> RIGHTS AS THEY SUGGEST AND THIS IS NOT ALIGNED WITH THE
> CIVIL RIGHTS MARCH OF DR. KING.
> WHAT THIS IS DOING IS BRINGING HATE AND DISGUST TO THE
> GAY COMMUNITY, BY THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED TO KEEP THE MEASURE
> BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN.
>
> GOD GAVE MARRIAGE TO BOB AND MARY NOT TO GEORGE AND HARRY
> AND THAT IS MY FEELING ON THIS MATTER.
>
> WHATEVER YOUR VIEWS ON THIS MATTER MIGHT BE I RESPECT YOUR
> RIGHT BUT FOR ME THE MEASURE WON SO "LET IT BE"
> (JOHN LENNON) AND COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS THAT YOU NOW HAVE,
> AND LEAVE MARRIAGE ALONE!!
>
How about using UNITED for the word Marriage and still receive the same benefits given to a MAN and a WOMAN.
I\'m sure they already have as domestic partners. ALSO QUIT BEING RUDE AND NASTY towards others and perhaps you may in time get the respect you search for. Dr. King and Barack did not throw things and cuss out those opposed to their beliefs and struggle.

IN THE END ITS THE STRUGGLE THAT COUNTS. :D  - Wally

The true business of America is not business, but justice. Justice itself has many aspects, including not only our Constitutional rights of freedom of expression, a speedy trial, habeas corpus, etc., but it also the unstated rights to be accommodated, appreciated, and included. It is often easier to exclude a person who is physically, culturally, or intellectually different from the rest, both in terms of economy and our own comfort level. Inclusion, like all forms of civil interaction, must be taught. There is little in our innate behavior that tells us we should sacrifice time, expense, and the possible approval of our peers to accommodate those that are different. This moral education is the rightful duty of church, community, and family, but progress in understanding or passing on these values has been irregular at best. The testimony and perspectives of those with uncommon attributes is one of the better reminders of the necessities of accommodation and inclusion. - futhark
