Dear Shores,

Thank you for trying to call the District to let us know about abandoned pool locations. Although we don\'t have an answering machine right now, you can send us an email at lcvcd@mchsi.com

Sincerely,
 Jamesina Scott

Skeeter fish rock!!

Got about 5 fish from LCVCD last year, they were running low on them at the time. They have since grown in number and make neat friendly little fish to have in a pond. Now if I could just keep the possums from wanting to dine on my froggies  Good article EL, West Nile was outta site and outta mind, thanks for the reminder. An abandoned full swimming pool sounds like a very risky liability issue. - Donna Christopher

I know of 2 abandoned swimming pools (one in Lakeport, the other in Kelseyville) with water in them that are repos - just called Vector Control, but because it\'s Saturday, they aren\'t answering their phones, nor do they have an answering machine so that you can leave messages - answering machines are not expensive!

Vector Control would do well to send out letters to all real estate businesses in the county asking for their help in this, before it gets out of hand! It\'s very hot right now and our birds are using these pools for drinking water. - Shores_of_Kabatin

Good To See

Good to see people are actually thinking about natural alternatives to the problem. The last thing we need are tons of poisons traveling around in our environment. Some other natural alternatives to mosquito control are birds, bats, and dragonflies. If you encourage habitats for their predators, you recreate the natural balance and allow for a natural control. Here are some more tips:
