After withdrawing from the first rounds of \"Dogs can\'t sniff\" mussels\" with nary a battle won, it\'s discouraging to find the Cal F&G scam still opperating. Hey readers, it\'s a simple question: \"Can \"trained detection dogs\" actually corner an adult mussel on a trailer axle ?\" And much worse, can these same dogs \"detect\" quagga larvae drifting freely in the water column??\"

Are those who direct \'government\' in Lake County so fundamentally ignorant of science and its methods that none has made any effort to answer the basic question on mussel-sniffing dogs which is \"Do they work\"? \"Can you prove it?

That\'s the local mussel hotline, monitored 24/7: depending on the nature of the call, it will be routed to the appropriate agency.

And -- Helene -- the loophole you refer to does not exist. ALL vessels require stickers, including local boats (kayaks, too) that have been here all along, and getting the sticker requires -- at a minimum -- filling out an application and answering some questions. There\'s no published list of screeners yet, because new ones are being added all the time.

Again, call 263 2556 for any mussel-related queries and concerns. - vbrandon

Neighbor watch??

If you absolutely \"Know\" a neighbor hasn\'t got a sticker or had an inspection because they trailered their boat in just before the April 8th start of the program, is there a number to call to be able to \"snitch\"?
I\'m sure there is more than one that has a summer home that trailers in and out and claim that the boat never leaves the county.
I\'ve not seen a list published of the \"screeners\" in the county. - helenemw

remember that it was Denise Rushing who got this done-nobody else was doing anything.

And it looks like Francis was wrong about it being too late-thank God! 15,000 stickers handed out? And they ordered 3,000 to start with? nice going! - smurf

I sometimes come from a place of being reactive rather than proactive...but,

What happens when somesone is found on the Lake without a sticker?

Is there personal(Fish and Game/Sheriff/Trained individuals) on the Lake adequate to monitor for stickers?

And just a thanks to everyone for all their wonderful work and efforts to keep this Lake safe and beautiful. - lenny
