The treaty of tripoli said more and probably the most important was we tolerated all religions and was not just a Christian nation. My point is that both sides use us as their cannon fodder. Phil has hit it on the head. My view is its them or us and this course we are on has troubled waters. No race problem? look at the mascot debacle. says well of us? Divide and conquer. - James

I\'m very glad you wrote it. And I\'m glad that Obama made the speach he made. Been saying a loooong time now that racism is just a tool to keep all of us from realizing that corporations are running the show and have no regard for any of us except as carbon based funding units. Don\'t think you missed anything in History class RM, but Parsley sure did, The Treaty of Tripoli, signed by John Adams in 1797 which specifically set forth that American was NOT founded as a way to attack or destroy the Islamic religion. Good document and the phonetic spelling of some of the wording is fascinating. All this gas being poured onto the flames of racism makes me think that we the peeps are on to something here and the powers that be are scared feckless. - Donna Christopher

A good place to start would be the treaty of Tripoli. Understand I throw no stones and expect none. I could agree on your views but the other side are saints? We are used and yes abused, discarded for their purpose. It is necessary we are brainwashed for this morass to exist. Become informed set yourself free. See a lie! no matter the side. We are dealing with people not a government and as such without honor of cause for this government, we are doomed. Good life. - James

nothing but a Republican mouth piece (putrid breath and all), not a legitimate news organization...Watch Robert Greenwald\'s Brave New Films short video "Fox attacks Obama, part 2"...
How about pastor John Hagee, whose endorsement John McCain stated he was "proud" and "honored" to receive?
Hagee said Katrina was God\'s punishment for homosexuality, Jews were to blame for anti-semitism, and Catholicism is "the whore of Babylon" and a "cult" (is he a closeted Jehovah witness?)...
How about Rick Parsley, a televangelist whom McCain calls his "spiritual guide"...
Parsley said:
"I cannot believe our country can fulfill its divine purpose until we understand our historical conflict with Islam. I know that this statment sounds extreme (no sh-t!), but I do not shrink from its implications. The fact is that America was founded, in part, with the intention of seeing this false religion destroyed." (Did I miss something in history class?)
Did Fox question McCain about these nut cases "spiritual advisers"? Of course not...and Fox has lead the mass media, that is too lazy or too bias to report objectively, into the Obama smear campaign.
Check out the media watchdog group
Media Matters... if you are not doing it already.
Rush Limbaugh has done a lot of damage to this nation, feeding the morons, the reactionaries, the bigots, the xenophobes and other subspecies with BS that exacerbates their pathological conditions...Yet when more intelligent individuals call him on his BS and his lies, he says he is "just an entertainer". That would be good for the ditto heads to remember... - Raphael
