As the person who gave the city the webcam, I researched this on my own before I gave them the cam. It would cost them nothing (yes, I said NOTHING) to put a streaming video during the meetings and to archive them later. There are places like www.ustream.tv and blip.tv which which give you online access for free to run your show and post it on your page. They obviously didn\'t do their homework. But, then, what do you expect from people who tell you that they don\'t have the ability to copy a cassette tape?

I gave the webcam to the city so that not only physically challenged could have access but the elderly and other people who can not make the meetings for various reasons could also have access to what is happening in the city of Lakeport.

I find it embarrassing that they can\'t figure out how to set up and run a simple recording and broadcasting of a meeting when people (including teenagers) all over the U.S. are running their own shows with no money at all. - purplegirl

Informing the public and complying with Americans W/Disabilities Act may cost a whopping $1,700 a year to implement and $1,550 a year maintain(actual amounts depend on negotiating skills of city employee). Transparency in Government is not optional!! Pass the hat if that\'s what it takes and make it happen NOW. I would think the Greater Lakeport Chamber of Commerce would think this concept has great merit and would help make it happen. - Donna Christopher
