Publicized Checkpoint?

Well, this should kill attendance & monetary support at the Lion\'s Club Hoedown tonight. Guess the CHP can\'t think of any other way to raise money for themselves or maybe they are just jealous of any events happening when they have to work a shift. Good grief.

I have to laugh at the above word\'s \"by publicizing the checkpoint\" - well, where the heck will it be?? It isn\'t very \"publicized\". You know, in this rural area of Lake County, it isn\'t like we can take \"Bart\", ride a bus, or afford the cab fare for a 30-mile jaunt - this kills Lake County\'s social attendance at most functions & quite a few people are tired of lack of social entertainment & the ability to get out and have some fun with friends, like we used to do. Course this was in the days that if the sherriff caught a teen raising hell past curfew, he would be driven home to his parents house and the parents would be awoken - what could be a better punishment? If \"Joe Blow\" who was known as a hard-working, contributing member of the community was caught driving when he shouldn\'t be, a warning was all that was needed to wake him up from repeating his mistake - but now, no one seems to know anyone anymore. It is evident that our law enforcement doesn\'t hire locally much. As a life-time resident, I still don\'t personally know anyone who has been involved in a fatal accident caused by drunk driving (since I know many families here, how can that be if we are to believe all the \"statistics\"?)but do recall when a Sheriff\'s car was speeding through town with no lights or sirens hit a car, killing my friends\' two mothers back in the late 70\'s.

Yes, arrest the truly drunk drivers that have no control but with the current laws, one drink puts most of us in the arrest zone - that is not right. - Shores_of_Kabatin
